John is a main character from the teen-family-comedy-drama-musical TV series, CityKids. He was portrayed by Dule` Hill.

Appearance in Rooftop Thanksgiving[]

John and the other CityKids are trying to resolve just where to have their Thanksgiving party. He tells Tito that last time he had prepared some food for him, it was too hot. Tito retorts that spicy is how he likes his food and John tells him that he's not a fire-eater. Eventually, it's resolved that the party will take place on an apartment's rooftop. At a library, the girls tell the boys their claims that when they were in the apartment unit where a woman named Zia, and her husband, Pete, live, they heard her on the phone fussing about something. The girls jump to the conclusion that she and Pete plan to divorce. The boys, especially Tito, aren't as willing to believe such a thing to be possible and true.

While at the party, Tito tells the others about having seen a homeless boy and how much he wants to help him. But the others think that he should just pass on that. John tells him a story about what happened when he tried to extend a helping hand to a homeless person himself. He was spat on and chased down by the homeless man. He also says that some people like that just aren't quite right mentally and tells Tito he shouldn't try to help so much nor do it all the time, as Tito donating to a homeless woman the other day is plenty. Then, Snoopy shows up at the party and gives his two cents. He concurs with Tito about how important it is to help the homeless, for were it not for the shelter where he resides, he would've been another statistic. This causes Tito's mind to be made up and he goes to interact with the boy. Ultimately, the others follow and do the same. They discover the boy, Sam, is with his parents, Doug and Nina, and ask if they would like to join them. The parents aren't so sure about this and consider turning down the opportunity, but when food is offered, they decide to attend after all.

John and the others hear of the family's situation from Doug. When the party is over and the CityKids return to the rooftop through a stairwell, they discover the family is now gone. Having planned to set the family up to stay in a homeless shelter, they start to search for them. But Snoopy tells them it's best not to interfere with them, as it may do more harm than good. He explains that vagrants like them would rather have their liberty of not being told what to do. As sad and disappointed as the others are, they relent and accept before continuing to clean up at sundown.
