Appearance in Rooftop Thanksgiving[]
Nikki and the other CityKids are trying to figure out and settle on where they're going to have their Thanksgiving party. She mentions her plans of visiting her dad's house. Once it's decided that the party will take place on the roof of an apartment, she and the other girls, Angelica and Susan, ask Pete if they may see his wife, Zia. He tells them she's inside and that they may. When the girls get there, they find Zia on the phone, talking about how she's fed up about something. Not knowing of the full story of just what that something is, they mistakingly believe that she's talking about divorcing Pete. Nikki and Susan are motioned by Angelica out of the unit and they quietly creep out of there without Zia knowing their presence. At the library, Nikki and the other girls tell the boys about what they heard and think that it must be true. But Tito, being doubtful of this, tells them not to go there. Snoopy tells them the day the party is to be held is a bad day for him and he won't be able to make it due to him agreeing to do volunteer work at a homeless shelter where he lives. Disappointed, Nikki tells him it would be the same without him, but Snoopy made a promise.
On the day the party takes place, Nikki and the other girls try to persuade Zia to have second thoughts about breaking up with Pete by talking about the couple's wedding video, although Zia isn't aware of their intentions behind that. Following Tito seeing a boy who appears to be homeless, he desperately wants to come to his aid. But most of the other CityKids disagree with him. David tells him a story about how an ex-opera singer who became homeless resorted to theft by breaking into a brownstone and stealing money. He asks Nikki if she remembers that and she nods. But once Snoopy is able to come to the party and agrees with Tito by saying how the homeless shelter ameliorated his situation, that was it for Tito and his mind is made up once, and for all. The others eventually come around and decide to join him. The boy named Sam is found to be with his mother, Nina, and father, Doug. Nikki and everybody else tells them about the party they're having, offer food, and invite them. The parents are wary about this originally, but then choose to go along with it.
While David and the others have their meal, he asks the family how and why they ended up homeless. Nikki says his name firmly, believing the question to be insensitive and inappropriate. He apologizes and she elbows him in response. Doug tells him it's alright and tells everybody the story behind what happened. Later, upon returning to Pete and Zia's unit, Nikki and Angelica tell her that they heard her talking on the phone about her leaving Pete. Zia explains to them that she was actually referring to the landlord is who she is leaving, since he's been doing such a poor job at maintenance. Neither she nor Pete are getting divorce. Nikki and Angelica feel foolish for presuming the worst about them and realize their error in making presumptions, and jumping to conclusions.
