"Turkey Time" is the Thanksgiving episode of the Nickelodeon animated series Rocko's Modern Life, aired as the first segment of the series' final episode (in airing order).
Summary[]
It is Thanksgiving in O-Town, and Rocko tries to save the turkeys.
Plot[]
On the day before Thanksgiving, Rocko and Heffer are busy preparing for Rocko’s first Thanksgiving dinner in O-Town. They realize they still need a turkey and head to Ed, who is setting up Conglom-O's annual turkey giveaway. Although Ed initially refuses to give them a turkey before 9:00, he eventually gives them a turkey after their persistent pleading. However, when Rocko “invites the turkey to dinner”, he is horrified to learn that he is expected to kill and cook it. Heffer tries to do it himself, but ultimately can't bring himself to do it.
Meanwhile, all the turkeys that were supposed to be given away have escaped and ended up at Rocko's house. Ed shows up at Rocko’s house, suspecting that Rocko is hiding the turkeys that escaped. Rocko lies and tells Ed that his turkey “ran away”. Ed does not believe him and he then spreads false rumors that Rocko is having a big Thanksgiving dinner, causing everyone in O-Town to call Rocko believing that they have not been invited to the party that they think he is having. Despite Rocko's denial, the TV news reporter insults Rocko, causing Rocko to become angry. Out of rage, Rocko agrees to throw a Thanksgiving dinner party for everyone.
The following day, the entire town of O-Town gathers at Rocko's house anticipating his dinner party. Heffer does an excellent job of keeping everyone entertained, and as the grand finale, he presents them with a seemingly delicious cooked turkey. However, little do they know, Rocko has actually hidden the real turkeys in his bedroom. As the party winds down and guests start to leave, Ed stumbles upon packaging for vegetarian turkey in Rocko's trash can. Suspicious, he goes to check and is shocked when the turkeys come crashing through the floor, exposing Rocko's ruse to the entire party. The citizens are angry and rush towards Rocko, Heffer, and the turkeys.
Rocko and Heffer are stuffed inside a garbage can and dumpster, respectively, while two citizens sit on top of the lids to keep them shut. Rocko and Heffer plead for the citizens to stop and for them to be let out, but they are ignored. The citizens prepare to drop a piano (hovering above the turkeys by a rope held by the citizens) on the tied-up turkeys and to cook and eat them, but their conscience stops them as they believe the turkeys are “too cute to kill”. Ed, however, demands that the citizens drop the rope. Ed is crushed by the falling piano. In the end, Ed is forced to feed the turkeys their own dinner and Rocko and Heffer wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving.
